ight HouseWho IS Christmas For?
I don’t know how many times I’ve heard someone say, “Christmas is for children.” I suppose if a person sees Christmas as being all about presents, decorations, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf The Red Nose Rein Deer, Christmas Trees and a fat man in a red suit, then it may very well seem as if Christmas was mostly for children. Others might say, Christmas is for adults as well as children. After all, we get paid time off from work, enjoy family get-togethers, parties, and great meals.
If we will look beyond all the customs, and commercialization to see the real reason for the season, we are reminded that our savior, Jesus Christ was born into this world to suffer and die for the sins of mankind. He who was without fault or sin took our place and paid the price that we could not pay so that we could be forgiven of sin and have eternal life.
If you were to tie it down to who Christmas is really for, it is for the sinner. Therefore since all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, Christmas is for everyone!
Without Jesus we would all face eternal damnation in Hell. I don’t believe that most people don’t understand the true meaning of Christmas. Even most sinners somewhere along the way have heard enough of the gospel to know the true meaning of Christmas. I do believe however that many have lost their focus on what it is really all about by the overshadowing of customs and traditions. I was that way before I was saved. I was a lost man who knew the meaning of Christmas, but had little appreciation for it. Since I’ve been saved however, Christmas has taken on a whole new meaning for me. What I knew on an intellectual level, I now know in my heart because I have received the gift of salvation.Sinner, Christmas is for you, if you will confess your sins, repent, ask the Lord to save you, and believe in your heart. Then when someone asks you what you got for Christmas, just tell them, “Eternal Life”.
