Smiling Through Our Tears

Their Memory is precious and oh how real,
We can still see their face, hear their laughter, and sometimes even their touch it seems we can feel.

The sound of their voice, the things they’ve said,
We’ve pondered it all, sometimes late at night while we’ve laid in our bed.

But we’re thankful to God for the peace that only He can give,
Comfort by His word, he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.

Death has been conquered by our glorious King,
That’s how we’re able to ask with all sincerity, “Oh grave where is thy victory, Oh death where is thy sting?”

But our greatest comfort lies in this one thing,
Knowing that while they were still here and the blood still flowed through their veins,

That there came a day in their life when they fell on their knees,
And cried out to God, “Oh Lord will you save a poor sinner like me?”

And save them He did. We believe this is true
For we saw Christ in their life, his light shinning through.

Now they’ve gone home to be with the Lord,
They’ve laid down their cross to claim their reward.

For a period of time we all will grieve,
Burt we can smile through our tears because here’s what we believe:

Some day soon, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
Those that sleep in Christ Jesus will hear his voice and the dead in Christ shall rise.

And we will all be gathered together in the presence of our Lord,
Where we will know only joy, peace, and happiness, and separation will come no more.

So we embrace this promise and we’ll never let it go,
It will carry us through the valley of grief, it will lift us up when we’re feeling low.

And when those memories come around as they will down through the years,
We’ll remember God’s promise and we’ll smile through our tears.
