The Big Cookie
Will you get the BIG cookie or the small broken crumbly cookie?
While you read this think about God and His children and the relationship we have with Him and the blessings He gives us.
A mother has three children of which she loves all dearly and equally. Her greatest desire is for her children to have all she can provide for them and also for them to return the love she so willingly pours out to them.As she sits, she watches them. Two are playing and absorbed in their own little world. The third child, a little boy, approaches the mother and gives her a big hug. He then asks the mother to hold him. The mother is delighted to give the requested affection. As the little boy lays his head on his mother's bosom, she can actually feel the love he has for her radiating from him. She knows his heart. They sit quietly just basking in each others love while the other two children continue to play apparently giving no thought to the mother or their little brother. They are enjoying themselves too much to even notice that Mom is right there next to them keeping a protective watchful eye on them even while she gives affection to their little brother who came to her seeking attention and giving love.
The little boy she is holding finally looks up at his mother and says, "I love you mommy." She tightens her embrace and tells him that she loves him too. The little boy thanks his Mother for being so good to him and kisses her on the cheek before getting down from her lap. Then the little boy picks up some paper that is handy and some crayons and begins to work diligently. In a few minutes he hands his mother a messy disproportional and very inaccurate portrait of her self with the barely legible caption, "I love you mommy" written in crayon beside the seemingly unflattering picture. She smiles and asks, "What's this for?" "I just wanted to do something for you, mommy" the little boy replied. While the picture is certainly no great work of art to the world, it is a masterpiece in the eyes of the Mother who will honor it not for it's quality but for the love and the willing heart that went into it. As she stands to make her way into the kitchen to hang it on the refrigerator, she announces that it is snack time. She proudly displays the portrait and then takes a box of cookies from the shelf. It turns out their are three cookies left. Being the last three they are chipped and broken and crumbly but one is still in tact and therefore bigger than the rest. So I ask you, which child do you think is going to get the biggest cookie? <Grin>
