Dick Smoot (friend and co-worker from the Columbus Electric and TPI days)

Dick is an amazing man. He has very little formal education, yet he is one of the most intelligent men that I have ever known. He can take an engine apart and put it back together better than it was. Well we all know people like that, but Dick can do this whether your talking about a tracktor, a back hoe, a Harly, or the family car. He was tinkering with computers way back when the TRS-80 came out (if you were born after 1975 you probably have no idea what a TRS-80 is). He has built computers from scrap parts more than once. He is an excellent Tool Designer, can hold his own in most areas of mechanical design and engineering, and has forgotten more about electronics than most people will ever know. With all these skills, and more that I have not mentioned, he is very humble and down to earth. We remain in contact and are still very good friends.
